International Conference on Cognitive Development
December 10-13, 2010
CBCS is organizing an International Conference on Cognitive Development in December as part of its Series of International Conferences.
The developmental stages of infancy, childhood and adolescence are characterized by rapid development of the brain and cognitive processes. Human brain undergoes changes in structural and functional organization throughout the life span. Brain development and cognitive maturation occur parallel to each other. Research in the field of cognitive development has been extensive with studies on infant cognition and development of specific cognitive processes like attention, inhibition, executive control, working memory, language, and emotional regulation using, methodologies like behavioural experimentation, electrophysiology, neuroimaging (PET, fMRI, MEG, NIRS, and DTI). Studies on cognitive development in normally developing children have informed about the prolonged, progressive nature of developmental patterns which also help to explain the mechanisms underlying various cognitive processes. Studies on developmental disorders provide meaningful insights into the mechanisms of various cognitive processes. Cognitive science offers a wonderful opportunity to investigate cognitive development with diverse approaches and methodologies. Research has also reported differences in developmental trajectories and the nature of manifestation of developmental disorders across different cultures. This conference is being organized to have deliberations and discussions on brain and cognitive development including various specific processes across developmental stages.
